Home 9 Our Mission 9 About Brooksford

Brooksford Place Housing Co-op was built in 1978. It became a co-op in 1980.  It is not large, with just 51 townhouse units, plus a common hall. There is a playground between units 22 and 23 along with a small basketball / hockey area.

Demographics

We consist of a regularly balanced mix of lone-parent families, two-parent families, and seniors.

Community Hall

All members have access to the hall.  Ground level of the hall is our office, a boardroom, and a member’s workshop; second floor is the kitchen, large meeting room; top floor there is a social area with a TV, a billiard room, ping-pong table, and a poker room.

Rules

Three sets of documents provide shared rules, designed to provide the structure necessary to live as a cooperative and prosper, now and in the future:

  • Rules of Association

Sets out our legal requirements to operate as a co-op, generally about overall governance

  • Occupancy Agreement.

A contract between the member and the co-op that outlines both member and co-op responsibilities

  • Policies

We can make our own policies (parking, pets, spending etc.) as long as they do not conflict with what is in the Rules of Agreement or Occupancy Agreement.
